Chiropractic is a manual therapy provided by a skilled practitioner for disorders related to the spine, pelvis, nervous system, joints and musculoskeletal system. The goal of chiropractic treatment is to restore proper function and relieve pain. A chiropractor may achieve this through the use of different techniques or modalities . Traditionally known for “the adjustment”, the chiropractor uses non invasive methods of restoration by delivering a hands on approach that is specific for joint correction. Treatment may also include acupuncture, rehabilitative exercise, modalities such as laser therapy, ultrasound and soft tissue therapy.
Many people seek chiropractic care for different reasons which may be any of the following; an acute episode of pain, for symptom control for chronic conditions, preventative measures for maintenance or strengthening and rehabilitation. As well, chiropractors may even provide information on nutrition. People of any age may benefit from chiropractic care as it is not limited to the adult population.

Dr. Victoria Marshall attended the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto where she graduated with her Doctor of Chiropractic, Cum Laude in 2005. Prior to becoming a Chiropractor, she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Anatomy and Cell Biology from McGill University in Montreal in 2000. With an interest in acupuncture, seeing it as an essential tool to broaden her knowledge she studied acupuncture through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute and was accredited her CAFCI certification in 2006. She has continued to take courses and broaden her knowledge in acupuncture post certification.

In 2005, Dr. Marshall opened Back In Line Wellness and Chiropractic Clinic and has since served the Whitby community. Victoria believes that her combined knowledge of chiropractic and acupuncture with on site modalities of electrotherapy, low level laser therapy, soft tissue techniques and spinal decompression offer patients a wide range of treatment to tailor to individual needs.

In 2011, after the birth of her first son, Dr. Marshall became certified in the Webster Technique through the ICPA in the treatment of sacral dysfunction which can affect the biomechanics of the pelvis in pregnancy. Improving pelvic biomechanics can reduce pain in pregnancy in terms of reducing aberrant forces through the pelvis allowing proper movement and function and theoretically allowing the baby to assume its best position for delivery.

In 2014, due to Dr. Marshall’s involvement in participating in team sport and the more recent current awareness and development of management strategies and objective testing in the field of Concussion Management, she became certified with Shift Concussion as a certified Shift Concussion Management Provider. She is very excited to be affiliated with Shift Concussion, as they are at the forefront of managing and educating on Concussion.

When not practising, Dr. Marshall has a passion for an active healthy lifestyle. She fulfills this healthy lifestyle enjoying cooking, running, strength training and of course family and friends! Also, on her off time she enjoys speaking to small groups about athletic injury prevention and treatment, physical signs of stress and ergonomics, and more recently educating on concussion.
